Healthy Granola Recipe (WARNING - you will get addicted to this recipe!)

Updated: Jul 13, 2020

I warned you before you got yourself into this, don't say I didn't tell you that you will literally get addicted to this amazing, simple, delicious and super healthy granola recipe! It is so useful through out the whole week when you're busy but you want a nice and healthy breakfast or snack. You can eat it with yogurt, milk, fruits and basically anything you want. But I have to warn you again, once you try this recipe once, the addiction will work right away so there's no going back! At least it's a good addiction though, one of those good habits!

This recipe is sooo cool and you know why? Its super cool because it almost has no rules! Almost though! haha. What I mean is, that you can literally put anything you want in your granola, chocolate chips/chunks, maybe coconut flakes, chopped apple or banana... Also, for my nut allergic friends, don't worry! You don't have to put nuts in there, I just told you a few examples of other things you can add on and you know, it's even good plai with no extras. Plus, if you're not a fan of coconut oil, which I will be using in this recipe, you can definitely use any type of oil you want.

Now, let't talk about why granola is so healthy, no you know what? Let's be even more specific, let's talk about why oats are so healthy and good for us. Oats are one of the healthiest grains on this planet. Oats are a gluten-free whole grain and an amazing source of important vitamins, minerals, and so on. Studies also show that oats and oatmeal have many health benefits. These include weight loss, lower blood sugar levels and a reduced risk of heart disease. - I am not 1000000% sure this last park is true but I know it won't harm us for sure!

Some people say, well yeah granola is healthy so what's wrong with buying the store bought one? Well, there's nothing wrong with it but you really don't know how that granola is made. Can you imagine the amount of sugar they add to it? Sadly, I can! But we already came with a perfect solution together! So I think now we are all ready to get baking some granola! Soooooo LET THE BAKING BEGIN!

Recipe

Ingredients - ( for about 2 containers like in the pic above )

  • 4.5 cups oats

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds

  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds

  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries

  • 1/3 cup dried apricots

  • 1/3 cup dried plum

  • 2 tbs chia seeds

  • 1/2 cup honey ( you can add 1/4 cup of coconut sugar as well for extra sweetness)

  • 1/3 cup coconut oil

  • 2 tbsp natural peanut butter (totally optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300 degree F

  2. Mix all your ingredients in a large bowl. Make sure they're all well mixed!

  3. Pour your granola batter to a large baking pan making a thin layer! (If you will make a thick layer, you would most likely end up with half burnt granola from the bottom and not ready granola from the top!) I used 2 very large baking pans for this amount.

  4. Bake in preheated oven for about 20 mins. It should turn gold and brown but not burn! So I suggest to open the oven every 7 mins or so to make sure nothing is burning! Don't worry, you won't destroy your granola by opening the oven often because nothing needs to rise or activate while baking granola, it's not like a cake or cookies.

  5. Andddd you're done!
